Because I Am Clearly Insane

Those are mint chocolate cupcakes with mint frosting. One of two desserts I am making for Shabbos (because I can't disappoint a 9-year-old who loves these cookies). That paper that's due on Monday that is currently a mess of notes, data, and nothingness? It'll get done somehow. Right?

On Postponing the A Cappella Death Wishes

I may or may not have already messed up the counting sefira thing, and less than a full day in and I'm already hating a cappella music with a passion, but here's a public service announcement for anyone else who is ready to make Maccabeats voodoo dolls: There is a Warblers CD of Glee music that is all a cappella. I doubt it will last me until Lag Ba'Omer, but it's something, and I would find it hilarious if Orthodox Jews could drive a noticeable spike in the CD's sales during sefira.

Awkward Moments at the Keilim Mikvah

So, I went to the keilim mikvah today with lots of stuff to tovel pre-Pesach (coffee pot, pots, knives, cookie jar—yeah, that doesn't make as much sense—really cute shot glasses...). After spilling a good amount of mikvah water—gross!—on my shirt while trying to lift a pot out of the water, a guy waiting in line to tovel dishes said: "Now everyone will know you went to the mikvah." Awkward pause. "The keilim mikvah."

 

Halacha Is Real Life and Other Adventures in Gchat

In response to my Gchat poll about whether there are foods that are both snacks and meals:

Friend: if u have enough of anything it is a meal
 me:  i know that's the halacha
but i don't think it's real life
 Friend:  oy - halachah is real life

Another friend late at night while we were both suffering through studying and wanted to go to sleep:

I Need This

It combines two of my favorite things: shoes and office supplies. (I cannot even explain how excited my new 24-pack of Post-It notes is making me.)
