It would be a better world if a president could promise us grammatical perfection. Also a world in which I would be obsolete.

Sometimes I feel like going through the free newspapers, circling all the mistakes like that, and mailing a copy back to them. Though as often as not, the articles with mistakes are from the AP, so it's not even necessarily the papers' fault.
don't newspaper copy staffs go over wire copy too?
Some newspapers--all the good ones--edit their wire copy before they print it. Though the NY Times, bafflingly, does not edit the wire content it posts to its Web site. Also, some wires, though not AP, edit their copy before they send it over their wires, which, if you ask me, is the responsible thing to do.
